Designed by Trim Studio, the cabin occupies no more than just 100-square foot of space.

But that seems more than sufficient in here with a small living area, a functional kitchen in white and wood that has a black workstation and a bedroom that is illuminated by a brilliant skylight. Each space flows into the next and the cabin offers everything a couple could need on their vacation. Even more impressive is the gorgeous wooden deck just outside that also holds a hot tub and adds to the sense of luxury and romance the cabin exudes.

It is not very often that you come across a modern home that has an imposing street façade made of magnificent stone walls on all sides. This not only provides complete privacy, but gives the home an entrance that is truly unforgettable. Welcoming you with stone beauty is the Cerro la Cruz House designed by Turner Arquitectos in Chile that is unlike any other home that we have seen in recent times. Here glass and concrete find space next to stone in a seemingly seamless fashion and modernity feels tempered by textural contrast at every turn. The house sits on a sloped lot and this further gave the architects to shape something unique and exceptional.

Even though the street façade of the house remains completely closed and the stone walls lead to a cozy entrance that feels private, the rear section of the house opens up towards the landscape and the garden area. Glass walls and windows connect both levels of the house with the outdoors here and the transition is just gorgeous. From the street, the house presents itself as a grand stone wall. It´s scale and brutalist character reveals a glympse of what to experience inside. A triple height hallway placed transversely in the center of the house directs to the main rooms toward the north and to the secondary ones towards the south.

The last time we at Decoist explored the terrazzo trend, it was definitely gaining popularity. Yet terrazzo decor was mostly offered by artists and design houses. Now that more time has passed, the look has gone mainstream, which has its pros and cons. One definite pro: affordable terrazzo finds at retailers such as Target and World Market. Plus, a whole new crop of artisans have boarded the terrazzo train, bringing their goods to marketplaces such as Etsy. Ready for a closer look at how you can bring terrazzo home? Keep reading! For the Walls

If you love terrazzo enough to deck the walls, consider wallpaper. There are many different styles to browse, form the minimal to the more detailed. Terrazzo has officially migrated to the tabletop, with leading brands offering an array of serving pieces featuring the pattern. We begin with Crate & Barrel’s Lunea Terrazzo Melamine Oval Platter, which showcases grey and wine flecks:

A more densely packed terrazzo can be found on Treasure & Bond’s Round Terrazzo Marble Serving Board (available at Nordstrom). It’s interesting how the close proximity of the flecks creates a very different look from many of the items featured in today’s post. You can also purchase the piece in oval.

CB2’s Terrazzo Black Round Serving Platter is a terrazzo and cement piece that brings grey-toned style to your spread of cheese, appetizers or dessert. When not in use, this item can be propped up on your shelf (or countertop) for a lovely display of modern geometry.
