Flower Power
When are florals NOT trendy for spring?! What’s interesting about this year is the way they’re appearing in many forms and renditions, from the Boho-modern products of Urban Outfitters to the European-style artwork of Anthropologie. For starters, the floral duvet cover below was inspired by wildflower sketches:
Also from Urban Outfitters, this Phoebe Floral Tassel Duvet Cover is easy-breezy, yet oh so spring-y!
From the bedding to the walls, don’t forget about making a floral statement at eye level. Urban Outfitters’ Clara Jungle Removable Wallpaper will help you create the accent wall of your dreams. Or you could go big and do the whole room!
Then again, one piece of strategically placed wall art can make all the difference. This Italy Spring Wall Art from Anthropologie (by artist Jennifer Allevato) is romantic and whimsical:
For wall art that celebrates the ever-trendy power of blush, check out Anthropologie’s Spring Blush Wall Art, a creation by artist KT Smail:
Vases and Blooms
When it comes to this season’s vases, the vessels are offered in today’s most sought-after tones, from the blush to the mint. Artfully arranged blooms are the filler of choice, whether they incorporate a range of flowers or one monochromatic bouquet with a wild look. Below we see the Oval Milk Glass Bud Vase:
With Deco style and a petite form, this Faceted Opaque Vase in rose is big on geo style and blushing beauty:
If rosy tones make you think of spring, add a dash of orange and white for a color-blocked effect! This Rose Wilder Vase from Anthropologie is eye-catching with or without blooms:
Faux isn’t what it used to be. In fact, beautifully crafted faux flowers are putting a creative spin on everlasting blooms. Urban Outfitters’ Poppy Spray Faux Flower is edgy and vibrant:
From CB2, this Faux Magnolia Stem looks anything but fake. Maybe it’s the hand-applied petals that give it such an authentic look…
Also from CB2 are these Faux Allium stems, wonderfully playful and conveniently available in purple and pink:
Don’t forget the magic of a beautiful planter! Handpainted and glazed terracotta takes center stage in Anthropologie’s Ariel Pots, available in small, medium and large:
Eye-Catching Entertaining
With spring comes many new reasons to celebrate. From showing off the newly landscaped backyard to honoring family Easter traditions, the festivities are abundant. Here are some seasonal decor finds that will take your fetes to new heights! For starters, chartreuse reindeer moss is the supply of choice for this lovely verdant wreath. Spring perfection!
Let the fun continue through Easter with this Moss Basket, also from Crate & Barrel:
Entertaining takes on a new life when serveware in shades of blue hits the table. Aren’t these Caspian Aqua Reactive Glaze pieces dreamy?! Whether you purchase one or an entire group of them, the look is bold yet soothing:
Last but not least, these neon pinwheels from Meri Meri are no longer available at Urban Outfitters, you can find them here, as well as many more amazing new pinwheel offerings for the season. We’re loving the stripes, but don’t overlook the iridescent and ombre selections as well.
We hope today’s post has been a bright spot in your week, especially if you’re dealing with the last of the dreary winter weather. Bring on the spring! Thanks for reading.

4 Bold Design Trends That Will Transform Your Space
If you’re looking for a bold way to make a big statement, today’s post is for you! Regardless of your budget, you’re sure to find an idea or two that will pique your interest. From large-scale projects (such as adding tile to the powder room) to smaller-scale endeavors (like crafting a wall hanging), the top trends featured below will empower you to bring unique design home. Unique can be as grand as bringing a big dash of emerald green to your wall, or as simple as letting tropical greenery take center stage in your newest modern vase. Read on, enjoy, and get inspired!…
Painted Wallpaper
Painted wallpaper is what you get when you choose to paint a design on your wall rather than apply paper! The benefits: It’s often cheaper than wallpaper, and you can easily “remove” it with a fresh coat of paint. With these conveniences, you may be more willing to take a bold risk when it comes to your walls. For example, this DIY Graphic Brushstrokes Hand Painted Wallpaper from Lemon Thistle is fresh and crisp with its white and green palette:
The hand-drawn look is a popular one, as it allows for a fluid feel that rebels against rigidity and precision (which can be intimidating when it comes to DIY projects). Opting for a stencil to guide you is a great choice! This Greta Hand Drawn Herringbone Wall Stencil from Stencils Lab has a Scandinavian vibe:
For a bolder pattern, try large symbols, as shown below in a nursery painted by A Beautiful Mess blogger Laura Gummerman. The look is unique, child-friendly and eye-catching:
We’re also fans of this eye stencil “wallpaper” pattern created by Laura for her guest bathroom. Check out all the DIY details at A Beautiful Mess:
Statement Tile
Tile on walls, tile on the floor. The more interesting, the better! Many a design blogger has used the powder room as an opportunity for adding a bold pop of personality to the home. Take this gorgeous bathroom from Studio DIY, complete with Hex Clip floor tile and that oh-so-vibrant Secret Lagoon tile, both from Clé Tile. Details and more at Studio DIY!
When it came to renovating the powder room of Camille Styles’ studio, hexagonal floor tiles by Popham Design (available at ANN SACKS) were the standout feature of choice! Note the range of hues, as well as the way the design creates an instant sea of color in a fresh, white space:
Boldness doesn’t have to come from radiant colors or eye-catching patterns. Sometimes the drama can happen within the tile itself! The blue tile featured below (from Pratt & Larson) includes a striking variation in tone, which only adds to the beauty of the space. Details at Emily Henderson:
Large-Scale Wall Hangings
Wall hangings are perfectly on-trend, and you can purchase exactly what you want or craft your own to honor your preferences and your budget. If you want to dabble in the realm of DIY wall hangings, the fabulous project below is a great place to start. It only takes a few hours, and the end result packs a powerful punch. Cotton brush fringe creates the lines and texture, and a flatweave rug serves as the perfect anchoring backdrop. Get your glue gun and go! Check out all the details at Studio DIY.
This latch hook wall hanging project from Honestly WTF showcases plenty of tiers, texture and tones. It’s commands attention, and you just might be tempted to brush it!
As you can see, even wall hangings in neutral tones make a big statement. Below, the bedroom of Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith features macrame artwork (by Sally England) over the bed. [photo from Architectural Digest]
Grand Greenery
Regardless of the season, sprawling arrangements of flowers and greenery continue to pop up in the product photography/catalogs of our favorite brands. In fact, all of the eye-catching greenery featured below is displayed in modern vase offerings from CB2. Using a range of colors, forms and textures adds interest to your arrangement, as shown in this first image highlighting the Aspect Glass Vase :
While the Celia White Vase may not be a large piece, nothing should stop it from holding tall tropical fan leaves! Bonus points if you display your arrangement on a marbled pedestal table:
There’s fluidity in the form and swirling of CB2’s Surge Black and White Glass Vase. With so much design goodness in the piece itself, keeping it simple with the arrangement of greenery is key. Yet simplicity doesn’t mean scaling back on size! The larger the tropical leaves, the better:
When it comes to adding a bold statement to your home, we hope today’s post has proven there’s no project too big or small! Whether you have a few hours or a few weeks to get the job done, embrace the challenge and make it grand. Happy decorating, and thanks for reading!

Valentine’s Day can sneak up on you, especially if it falls during the week. Not prepared this year? We’ve got you covered! Keep reading to discover a collection of special touches that will let you put your own stamp on “heart day”…

Setting the Stage
If you’re hosting a gathering or setting up for a romantic evening at home, consider a few eye-catching details that will make the day a special one. For starters, nothing says “party” like a sparkly garland! You can make your own by cutting out hearts, adding some glitter and stringing them together, or you can make it easy and purchase one (like the Meri Meri selection shown below):
You can also hit the party store for a couple of mylar heart balloons that will make a shiny statement! Or inflate the balloons yourself with the help of a small helium tank that you can purchase for around $20. The balloons below were a same-day delivery item from Amazon (one-day for Prime members). Now that’s making the most of a last-minute order!!
No-Fuss Valentines
If you’ve ever been shopping for cards at the last minute, you know how frustrating it can be to scroll through overpriced selections that somehow manage not to be special…or peruse leftover cards that are anything but standouts. Homemade valentines are even more special, and luckily there are plenty of ready-to-glue supplies that save you hours of crafting. For starters, these felt hearts can be combined with larger hearts for a layered effect. No time to order them? Get to a craft store and pick up some felt sheeting. A few cutouts with the help of a stencil, and you’re set!
The large glitter heart below was also a Target purchase. When combined with the felt heart and a heart sticker, an instant valentine with a homemade touch was created. Plus, this keepsake can be saved for display on future Valentine’s Day holidays! Again, if you can’t get your hands on pre-cut hearts, download and print out a stencil, then use craft paper, felt, fabric, or other supplies to create your own valentine. It doesn’t have to be time-consuming to be special. Focus on fun color combinations and layers of style.
Classic Gift Ideas
Red roses and a red box of grocery store chocolates will scream “last-minute”! But cookies that you pick up at your favorite bakery (or you frost yourself) show that you put some thought into the gift. If you have time to bake, by all means, take it away! If you’re pressed for time, you can purchase the cookies.
Buy basic sugar cookies and a can of frosting, plus your favorite sprinkles, and go to town! We love white sugar pearls, shown above and below. Don’t forget that you can add a drop or two of food coloring to the icing of your choice to get a soft pastel shade. Note: If you’re baking for young children, re-think the pearls, which may be difficult to chew.
For the flowers, a beautifully curated mixed bouquet will do the trick! The petite bouquet below was less thatn $13 at Whole Foods, yet it has the power to run circles around your standard spray of red roses, especially if presented in a beautiful vase.
A range of flowers in shades of pink, blue and violet add interest while remaining classic and lovely:
We at Decoist wish you and yours the Happiest of Valentine’s Days!
